How can I clean poison oak off of leather (suede)?
I have a beautiful suede hat that fell into poison oak! I didn’t know what to do with it and had a terrible reaction to poison oak before, so I put it into a plastic bag and it’s been in my closet over a year. an acquaintance said to coat it with flour to remove the oils, which I did, but I can’t find anything about that online. I’d love to wear my hat again, but I’m too scared to put it back on my head!
Clean it with pure alcohol, the alcohol will in fact eliminate all the oily sap (thats called urushiol )
Since you had an allergic reaction year gloves while doing it, and then take your coat to a dry cleaner sweetie, just to make sure that is clean as new!
